Custom Oral Appliances for Day & Night

Oral appliances provide a straightforward, non-invasive approach to managing a range of dental and health conditions. At Lynn Dental, every appliance we provide is custom-made specifically for you — never one-size-fits-all. Whether the goal is to address nighttime teeth grinding, obstructive sleep apnea, bite irregularities, or jaw joint discomfort, oral appliance therapy can play an important role in your overall treatment. We offer a range of thoughtfully designed appliances tailored to your individual treatment goals and comfort preferences.

Mouth Guard for Teeth Grinding

Some patients develop an unconscious habit of grinding their teeth — either during the day or while they sleep. In many cases, this happens only at night and for brief moments at a time. If you frequently wake up with a sore jaw or a dull headache in the morning, nighttime grinding may be the cause. In some individuals, the jaw muscles on the sides of the face can become visibly enlarged from the repeated strain — and since these are among the most powerful muscles in the body, the damage they cause can be significant.

Prolonged grinding wears down tooth surfaces, overworks the surrounding muscles, and places damaging pressure on the jaw joints on one or both sides. Over time, this can lead to arthritic changes, persistent pain, and clicking or popping sensations in the jaw. Once these changes take hold, they can be very difficult to reverse — which is why early intervention with a custom mouth guard is so important.

Mouth Guard for Sleep Apnea

A surprising number of people struggle with sleep-related breathing disorders without ever knowing it — yet the health consequences can be serious. Those living with undiagnosed sleep disorders face a dramatically higher risk of cardiovascular events, and a large proportion of stroke patients are later found to have had undetected sleep apnea beforehand.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a condition in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep due to a blocked airway. This happens when the tongue, throat muscles, tonsils, or soft palate relax and partially or fully obstruct the airway, causing oxygen levels in the blood to drop throughout the night.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recognizes oral appliances as a primary treatment option for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, and as an alternative for patients with severe OSA who are unable to use CPAP therapy.

How It Works Appliance Getting Your Custom Oral

Initial Consultation & Examination

Your journey begins with a thorough evaluation at Lynn Dental. Our dental team examines your teeth, jaw, and bite to understand the underlying condition whether that is teeth grinding, sleep apnea, TMJ disorder, or snoring. We take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle so we can recommend the most suitable appliance for your specific needs.

Impressions & Digital Scanning

Once the right appliance type is determined, we take precise measurements of your teeth and jaw. Using digital scanning technology, we capture an exact 3D model of your mouth no uncomfortable impression trays or messy putty required. This ensures your appliance fits perfectly and comfortably from day one.

Custom Fabrication

Your digital measurements are sent to a specialized dental lab where your appliance is crafted using high-quality, durable materials selected specifically for your treatment. Every appliance is built to your unique specifications not a generic mold ensuring maximum effectiveness and comfort. Fabrication typically takes one to two weeks.

Fitting & Adjustment

Once your custom appliance is ready, you return to Lynn Dental for your fitting appointment. Our team places the appliance, checks the fit and bite carefully, and makes any necessary adjustments to ensure it sits comfortably and functions correctly. We walk you through how to wear it, how to care for it, and what to expect going forward.

Follow-Up & Ongoing Support

We schedule a follow-up visit to monitor your progress and confirm the appliance is delivering the intended results. If any fine-tuning is needed — especially for sleep apnea devices which may require repositioning over time — we make those adjustments at this stage. Our team remains available to support you throughout your treatment journey.
